Axolotl

Description:
The Axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum) is an aquatic Mexican tail amphibian from the family of the transverse tooth newts (Ambystomatidae), which naturally occurs only as a permanent larva. Axolotl reach sexual maturity without changing their external larval form and undergoing a metamorphosis that is otherwise common in amphibians. The trivial name Axolotl comes from the Aztec language and means "water monster". Alexander von Humboldt was the first to bring Axolotl to Europe in August 1804, which served as an exotic curiosity in the Paris Natural History Museum.
