Description:
In 1988 , after the death of his mother, a young man, Peter Quill is abducted from Earth by the Ravagers, a group of space pirates led by Yondu Udonta . Twenty-six years later on the planet Morag, Quill steals a sphere-shaped artifact, only to be intercepted by Korath the Pursuer , a minion of a Kree fanatic named Ronan the Accuser . Although Quill escapes with the artifact, Yondu discovers its theft and posts a bounty for its capture, while Ronan sends the assassin Gamora after the Orb, which Ronan seeks to give to the evil Titan Thanos in exchange for the destruction of the Orbs. Xandarians.6

When Quill attempts to sell the Orb on the Nova Corps ' home planet of Xandar , Gamora ambushes him and a fight ensues, drawing in a pair of bounty hunters; the genetically modified raccoon named Rocket Raccoon and the tree-like humanoid named Groot . The Nova Corps arrive and arrest the group, imprisoning them in the Kyln prison. A powerful prisoner, Drax the Destroyer, attempts to kill Gamora due to her association with Ronan, who killed her family. Quill talks him out of it by saying that Gamora can take him to Ronan. Gamora reveals that she has betrayed him, unwilling to allow him to use the Orb's power to destroy entire planets like Xandar. Learning that Gamora has a buyer for the Orb, Rocket, Quill, Groot, and Gamora work together to escape the Kyln. Elsewhere, Ronan meets with Thanos to discuss the betrayal of his adopted daughter, Gamora , and the loss of the Orb, killing Thanos's servant, The Other, during the argument.

Now accompanied by Drax, Quill's group escapes from the Kyln in their ship—the Milano—and flee to Knowhere , a remote criminal outpost in space, built on the great severed head of a Celestial . Intoxicated and seeking revenge, Drax secretly sends a message to Ronan revealing the group's location, while the rest of them meet with Gamora 's contact Taneleer Tivan . Tivan opens the Orb, revealing that it contains an Infinity Stone., being in this case the Power Gem, a gem of immeasurable power that can destroy anyone who wields it, except for the most powerful beings in the universe. Suddenly, Tivan's tormented assistant, Carina, seizes her moment, takes the Gem, and attempts to kill her master, but causes an explosion that engulfs her collection and destroys Carina.

Ronan arrives and easily defeats Drax, while the others flee in ships, being pursued by Ronan's men and Nebula ., another adopted daughter of Thanos, who destroys Gamora's ship, leaving it floating in outer space, whereupon Ronan's forces leave with the Orb. Quill contacts Yondu before following Gamora into outer space, giving him her helmet to survive; Yondu arrives and they are rescued in time. Rocket, Drax, and Groot threaten to attack Yondu's ship to rescue them, but Quill negotiates a truce, convincing Yondu that they can retrieve the Orb. The group agrees that facing Ronan means certain death, but that they must stop him from using the Infinity Stone to destroy the galaxy. On Ronan's ship, the Dark Aster, Ronan embeds the Power Stone into his warhammer, taking its power for himself. He contacts Thanos, threatening that after destroying the planet Xandar, he will kill him and Nebula,

On the planet Xandar, the Dark Aster is confronted by Yondu's fleet, the Nova Corps, and Quill's group, who break into Ronan's ship. Ronan uses his hammer to destroy the Nova Corps fleet. Drax manages to kill Korath and Gamora defeats Nebula (who escapes) and unlocks Ronan's chambers, but the group is outmatched by his power until Rocket crashes the Kite into the Dark Aster, ramming Ronan. The damaged Dark Aster crashes on the surface of the planet Xandar, with Groot sacrificing himself to protect the group. Ronan emerges from the rubble and prepares to destroy the planet Xandar, but Quill distracts him by dancing, allowing Drax and Rocket to destroy his warhammer. Quill takes the released Gem, along with Gamora, Drax, and Rocket sharing its load,

After this, Quill tricks Yondu into giving him a container that supposedly contained the Infinity Stone, only to give the real Stone to the Nova Corps. As the Ravagers leave, they comment that it was a good thing not to hand Quill over to his father after his abduction. Quill's group, now known as the Guardians of the Galaxy , have their criminal records expunged and Quill discovers that what allowed him to temporarily resist the gem's power is that he is only half-human, with his father being part of a species. powerful and unknown Later, Rocket breaks down in tears over the loss of Groot and Quill finally opens the last gift he received from his mother, which contains a new mixtape .of your favorite songs. The Guardians leave in the rebuilt Milano, accompanied by a recovered branch of Groot, which is beginning to grow and regenerate.

In the final scene Drax is seen cleaning his knife with Groot's grown shoot behind and while the song "I want you back" plays , Groot's shoot begins to dance, but every time Drax turned around, he stayed still and when He stopped looking, he danced again.
